July 22, 2021, 14:10 Korea’s leading sports brand Nassau, with over 50 years of history, is supporting the South Sudan Olympic Team as they head to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Nassau signed a sponsorship agreement with the South Sudan National Olympic Committee, providing the athletes with official uniforms, hats, formal wear, and a variety of sports gear. During the Olympic Opening Ceremony on July 23, the South Sudan team will march in Nassau-sponsored attire. The connection between Nassau and South Sudan began earlier this year in February, when Nassau collaborated with the Future Hope Foundation to launch the campaign: "Drop the Gun, Pick up the Ball." This initiative aimed to deliver soccer balls?not weapons?to children in conflict-affected regions of Africa, offering hope and opportunity through sports. Lim Heung-se, Vice President of the South Sudan Olympic Committee and Head Coach of the national football team, stated: “This is South Sudan’s second Olympic participation, following Rio 2016. Preparing for the Games came with many challenges, but thanks to Nassau’s support, we were able to operate the delegation smoothly. We are sincerely grateful.” Jung Ui-seok, the newly appointed CEO of Nassau, also shared his thoughts: “We are proud to see South Sudanese athletes wearing and using Nassau products at the Olympics, following our support for the 'Drop the Gun, Pick up the Ball' campaign earlier this year. We will continue to support Coach Lim’s mission to spread positive impact through sports as a Korean leading a movement for good across Africa.” |
