August 10, 2021, 15:15 By Woo Choong-won, OSEN On August 6, Nassau signed a partnership agreement with the Jecheon Sports Council in Chungcheongbuk-do to provide a newly developed, sports-specific COVID-19 self-diagnostic test kit. Under this agreement, Nassau will supply its sports-use COVID-19 self-test kits, developed through its investment in a domestic biotech startup, for all sporting events hosted by the Jecheon Sports Council. As the pandemic prolonged and disrupted sporting events nationwide, Nassau boldly invested in a local venture company to develop Korea’s first rapid self-test kit designed specifically for sports settings. The kit delivers results in just three minutes, enabling immediate on-site testing at matches and tournaments. With improved sensitivity and specificity of up to 99%, the test kit minimizes the risk of infection during the time gap between testing and event participation. This allows for safer environments for both athletes and spectators at sporting events. Recently, the Jecheon Sports Council faced major disruptions after a COVID-19 outbreak occurred during a youth football tournament, leading to widespread cancellations and delays. Lee Kang-yoon, President of the Jecheon Sports Council, stated: “We’re very pleased that through this sponsorship agreement with Nassau, we can now provide a safer environment for all athletes, parents, and event participants visiting Jecheon. The Sports Council will establish thorough and proactive safety protocols so that young athletes can dream through football once again.” Ju Eun Hyung, Chairman of Nassau, who visited Jecheon for the signing ceremony, said: “I’m grateful to support the Jecheon Sports Council’s vision of revitalizing the local economy through sports. I hope Nassau’s sports-specific COVID-19 self-test kits can be a catalyst to help Jecheon and other affected regions recover from the pandemic.” With the appointment of new CEO Jung Ui-seok, Nassau is expanding beyond its traditional product lines such as soccer balls and tennis balls. The company is now branching into innovative sports solutions like airdomes and rapid testing kits, keeping pace with evolving industry needs. |
