The 2023 Ranking Awards Ceremony of the Korea Amateur Singles Tennis Association was held on February 3 at Jipyeong Tennis Court in Gyeonggi-do. The event was attended by male and female award recipients, their families, association officials, sponsors including Nassau Vice President Lee Won-il, and recipients of the Excellence Awards.

Over the past year, the Korea Amateur Singles Tennis Association organized more than 80 tournaments nationwide, classified by rank. Notably, more than 12 events were held for women, earning the strong support of female singles tennis enthusiasts. A total of 4,574 players participated in the tournaments.

Chairman Choi Jae-guk of the Singles Tennis Association remarked, “Tennis is experiencing remarkable growth nationwide. We are seeing an increase in the number of tournaments,” and added, “I hope everyone will continue to cooperate so that Korean tennis can reach the top of the world.”

This year’s ranking awards included several meaningful honors.

Tournament director Kim Hyun-geun of the Cheongju PTC Cup was awarded a special merit prize. He has been hosting singles tournaments for 10 years, having organized the event 123 times to date, and has operated it with the support of the local company Joa Chicken.

Yoon Choong-sik from Hongcheon, who ranked No.1 in singles, has impressively maintained the top spot for ten consecutive years since 2014.

“I’m honored to have achieved the No.1 ranking in singles for 10 straight years,” said Yoon. “I dedicate this honor to the association and my family. I will strive to keep playing tennis until I’m 100 years old,” he added, also sharing plans to compete in mixed doubles this year with his wife, who serves as his mental coach.

Women’s No.1 player Kim Kyung-jin stated, “This year, I’m training with the goal of making it into the men’s top 10 rankings. I will do my best to show improved performance and spirit.”

Vice President Lee Won-il of Nassau, a sponsor of the Singles Tennis Association, said, “I want to sincerely thank everyone for organizing so many tournaments throughout the year and for making today’s event possible.” He added, “Nassau is a proud Korean sports brand with 50 years of history. Please continue to support our products.”
